What you send, what you get

What is Math captcha?

A math captcha asks a short arithmetic question such as 12 + 30 = ? before a form can be sent. Many sign-up, comment and contact forms use it as a lightweight check. bypass.so reads the expression you send and returns the result as plain text.

Recognition tasks usually finish inside the createTask call, so the first response already carries the answer. Typical time to a result is about a second.

POST/createTask
GET/getTaskResult/{taskId}
POST/reportBad?task_id={taskId}
Every request needs your API key. Create an account to get one, top up any amount, and you are ready to send tasks.

What your own script does with the answer text once the task is ready.

  1. Read the question

    Copy the visible question text from the page you are testing. Keep operators and spaces as they are.

  2. Send it

    Create a MathCaptchaTask with the text in captchaText. The answer usually comes back in the createTask response.

  3. Fill the answer field

    Put solution.text into the form's answer input and submit the form as your script normally would.

Result fieldsolution.textThe answer is a plain string. Trim nothing and convert nothing; type it into the field as returned.

Use cases

Where teams use Math captcha tasks

Built for testing, accessibility and data work on sites you own or are allowed to automate.

  • Form regression tests

    Keep end-to-end tests for your own sign-up and contact forms green without switching the check off in staging.

  • Accessibility support

    Help users of assistive tools get past arithmetic prompts that are rendered in ways screen readers handle poorly.

  • Back-office workflows

    Automate repetitive submissions on internal or partner portals you are permitted to use.

Use bypass.so only where you have permission. Respect each site's terms and rate limits, and never use results to access accounts or data that are not yours. See our acceptable use policy.

FAQ

Math captcha questions

More answers in the general FAQ and the API reference.

Which operations are supported?
Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including multi-step expressions with brackets. Send the question as it appears; symbols such as × and ÷ are accepted.
Do I have to poll for the result?
Usually not. Math tasks typically finish inside the createTask call, so the response already has status: "ready" and the answer. If it says processing, poll GET /getTaskResult/{taskId} as with any other type.
What if the question is drawn as an image?
Use the image to text type to read the characters first, or send the text if you already have it. Text questions are the fastest and cheapest path.
What if an answer is wrong?
Report it with POST /reportBad and the task's taskId. The price of that task goes back to your balance, once per task.
How is it billed?
Per solved task, from your prepaid balance. The price is held when you send the task and charged only when the answer is ready.
