Captcha types

Five live captcha types. One simple API.

Read text, digits and arithmetic in about a second, or get ready-to-submit tokens for the widgets your forms use. Every type shares the same key, the same endpoints and the same pay-per-solve billing. reCAPTCHA v3 and hCaptcha are coming soon.

Two kinds of task

Recognition or token: which one do you need?

If the page shows you something to read or hear, it is recognition. If it shows a widget that sets a hidden field, it is a token.

Recognition tasks

You send the challenge itself: question text, an image or an audio clip. You get the answer as text, usually in the same call.

  • Answer in solution.text
  • Typically about a second, often no polling at all
  • Type the answer into the form's input field

Token tasks

You send the page URL and the widget's site key. You get a token that the page would normally create, ready to submit with the form.

  • Token in solution, with the field name when known
  • Typically around eight seconds; poll every 2 to 3 seconds
  • Single-use and short-lived: submit it right away

How every type works

Send, collect, use

The same three calls for every live type. Switch types by changing one field.

  1. Send

POST /createTask with your key, the task type and its fields. You get a taskId, and for recognition tasks often the answer too.

  2. Collect

GET /getTaskResult/{taskId} until the status is ready. The price is charged only at that point.

  3. Use

Submit the text or token with your form. If an answer turns out wrong, POST /reportBad returns that task's price.
